Interview with Micah

Q: Match Name/Date/Location of your Win:

A:White Oak Creek ELR Monthly Match (March 16, 2024)

Q: How long have you been shooting Extreme Long Range?
A: A little over 2 years

Q: What drew you to Extreme Long Range competitive shooting?
A: My Dad started shooting a local 500 yard monthly match several when I was 10 years old. He always took me with him and he let me start completing when I was 11. My first competitive match was an annual match at Rough Creek Shooting Complex in Glen Rose TX. It was single elimination bracket style match with a few random draw buyback opportunities after first round. I was knocked out in the first round, but I did get one of the buyback spots where I got an opportunity to win my way back into the match and ended up winning the entire match. That experience got me hooked on competitive shooting.  Robert Waggoner at Alamo has always built our rifles and one day my Dad talked to Robert about getting into ELR. We dove in head first a couple years ago and have had a blast ever since.

Q: What drew you to Cutting Edge Bullets and how did you hear about us?
A: When my Dad and I were getting into ELR we immediately noted all of the success of Cutting Edge Bullets in ELR. It was a no brainer for us to start with the Cutting Edge 400gr Lazer when Alamo built our first 375 cal ELR rifles.

Q:Have you shot other monolithic bullets before?  If so, what convinced you to change brands?
A:No, we started with Cutting Edge Lazers when we first began shooting ELR.

Q: In your opinion, what is the biggest difference between monolithic bullets and lead core bullets that you’ve experienced while shooting?
A:We see amazing consistency in tolerances with monolithic bullets, which is important in maintaining a consistent BC. At the distances we shoot in ELR, we are going through transonic and into subsonic velocities and having a projectile that maintains a low BC variation percentage contributes to consistency on target.

Q: What are your goals for the 2024 season?
A: This year I am working to establish a consistent and repeatable process for how I shoot a match. The goal is to eliminate mental errors and focus on a process that will allow me to compete at a high level each time. I am eager to podium at some of the larger ELR matches this season.

Q: Tell us about your rifle and ammo:
