I just returned from my first successful elephant hunt and want to let you know about my experience with your bullets. I was shooting a Rigby, .577 Nitro express double rifle, with your 750 grain Safari Solids. We were hunting in northern South Africa, about 50 miles from Mozambique. We hunted hard for the first two days, averaging 11 miles of tracking on both days. On the third day, we tracked this elephant for about 5 miles through steep rocky hills, thick trees, and even thicker heat. It was hard to see anything in the thick trees when the tracker abruptly motioned for us to stop. He said he could hear the elephant's stomach rumble and that we were very close. We had the wind in our face and we crept to 23 yards before we had an open shot in the dense bush. The tension was palpable. Everybody was praying that I would make a good shot, thereby reducing the chance of a charge or having to chase a wounded elephant. I had two rounds in the gun and two in my left hand. Everything seemed to move in slow motion. I shouldered the Rigby, put the front sight on my target, and squeezed the trigger. The Rigby ROARED and the elephant's trunk went straight up and his hind end went straight down. He went down with a crash. I put a second "insurance" shot in, but found out later it wasn't necessary. What an experience! I had made that shot in my head a thousand times and it just happened for real. After maneuvering the elephant into a better photo position, we found that the frontal shot traveled lengthwise through the elephant and exited through the left hind quarter. The trackers and guides were amazed! I was amazed! They had never seen a bullet travel lengthwise through an elephant. I didn't know what to think, as this was my first elephant. I did recover the second bullet by digging it up. It looked like it could be reloaded and used again! Other than the rifling grooves, it looked perfect. Thank you for an amazing product!! I love your bullets and brag about them whenever I get the chance. Cutting Edge Bullets are now the only bullets I will use.
