After 2-3" of penetration the four blades shear off and radiate outward in a star pattern. Meanwhile the non-deforming, Blunt Trauma Base™ continues on for deeper penetration.
This bullet does NOT come with sabots.
*NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CVA LRX & MRX RIFLES. We recommend using the 165gr Maximus instead.

I give 3 stars because I could not get these to shoot very well out of my .45 cal muzzle loader. I was loading with Harvester crlb sabot and N120 smokeless powder. Apparently it is a known problem with this combo where the sabot is getting shredded upon ignition. If CE would round off the bottom edge of these bullets they would not be so hard on sabot's and accuracy would improve. I will try them again with BH209 instead of smokeless to see how that does when I get time.
We spoke with Harvester and they are sending us some new sabots to try. We'd be happy to send you some also to test out. The bottom of the bullet is designed to fit perfectly inside of the sabot. Let us know how things go with BH209.
Very high quality and consistent performance, still working on best powder charge. I am very pleased with these bullets and plan on buying more.
