If you hunt with a 458 SOCOM this is the bullet period. The bullet is the most important part of the hunt don't go cheap.

I had excellent results with your 265 grain raptor Bullets shooting them from a 1-14” twist .458 win mag. I previously was using the 250 grain Hornady flex tip and pushing them at 3,050 FPS. Accuracy was around 1 moa. They performed excellent on deer except for massive meat damage. Your 265 grain raptor proved to be a very accurate Bullet,5 shot groups at 400 yards were slightly less than 2” when pushing them to 2,930 FPS. They did excellent job on deer without excessive meat damage. Great all around Bullet. I have used this Bullet the last several years and taken numerous whitetails at close range out to around 500 yards. This year I switched to the 307 grain Arrowhead Bullet. I switched because of a more aerodynamic Bullet. Your Raptor with a muzzle velocity of 2,930 would go sub-sonic at around 650 yards and the Arrowhead 307 going 2,800 goes sub-sonic at 950. The Arrowhead does not perform as well as far as fragmentation but it does come apart. Your Bullet at 600 yards needed 20.5 moa and the Arrowhead only needs 15.5 moa. I like the challenge of long range hunting and pass on a lot of deer because they are too close. I would like to harvest a deer with that gun between the 600 yard to 900 yard range and your Bullet will not do that. Sure would be nice if you would produce a 250 grain Raptor that is has a low drag factor...I would switch to that in a minute. Realizing that most hunters don’t hunt the way that I do I would highly recommend the 265 grain Raptor for shots to 500 yards. Great Bullet.

Thank you for your feedback. The 260gr MAXIMUS is better designed for those longer range shots. The MAXIMUS still has the devastation of the Raptor line but they allow you to shoot longer distances.
